BORDERS – Professor Charles Withers – Mapping Scotland’s Islands
27th February @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Scotland’s Geographer Royal presents a richly illustrated talk examining and illuminating the mapping of Scotland’s islands, from their first infrequent cartographic appearances in the late sixteenth century to the commonplace mapping (and computer-led cartographic obliteration) of the country’s islands in the twenty-first century. His talk will suggest that mapping Scotland’s islands has not been a straightforward task. For what, after all, is an island? And what a map?
Tickets are available on the night, at the door and online via Eventbrite from one month before until midday the day before a talk. If booking a Tiso or RSGS member ticket please be sure to bring your card(s) along. Thank you.
