Prof Doug Benn: Science and Adenture in Svalbard (GLASGOW)

17th October 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

For ten years, Doug was Professor of Glaciology at The University Centre in Svalbard. In this talk, he remembers his years on the ice, leading students across frozen fjords, exploring ice caves deep within glaciers, and studying the impact of climate change. Doug also paints a vivid impression of life in the Arctic: the long dark season, the midnight sun, and cohabiting with Svalbard’s most famous residents – polar bears!

Tickets can be reserved via the Eventbrite website – please follow the link below. For most talks, tickets will also be available on the night, on the door. If booking a Tiso or RSGS member ticket please be sure to bring your card(s) along.  Thank you.

RSGS Inspiring People talks are open to all. We are pleased to say that this year’s talks programme is being run in partnership with Tiso, the outdoor retail specialist. Entry is £10 for adults, £8 for Tiso Outdoor Experience cardholders, and free for RSGS members, students and U18s.
