Robert Swan: The South Pole Energy Challenge
11th September @ 7:30 am - 9:00 pm
Robert Swan is the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles. After seeing first-hand the effects of climate change, Robert has dedicated himself to protecting Antarctica and our planet by promoting recycling, renewable energy and sustainability.
In the 1980s, he founded 2041, an organisation dedicated to this goal, and late last year Robert and his son Barney embarked on an ambitious expedition – the South Pole Energy Challenge – to trek to the pole using zero carbon.
In this inspiring talk, Robert will show how his team achieved their zero-carbon goal, and tell how he continues to encourage the leaders of tomorrow to take responsibility for a sustainable planet.
This event is being produced by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society in partnership with Ardgowan Distillery, the latter of which supported Robert’s team on their trek. The distellery will shortly be releasing a limited edition Ardgowan Expedition whisky, containing single malt which Barney took all the way to the South Pole.
Online tickets available until noon on Monday 10th September.
