Talks, Tours and Trombones
Our upcoming events include an evening with founder of Dnipro Kids, Steven Carr, plus guided tours of the Fair Maid's House in Perth and Meet the Experts. We reflect on some recent visits to our office and the Inspiring People talks programme for 2023-24, and we also celebrate our latest RSGS Honorary Fellow, Jo Jeffreys.
Join us for an Evening with the Founder of Dnipro Kids for Ukrainian Orphans
Steven Carr
AK Bell Library, Perth
Thursday 25th April 7:30PM

Join us at AK Bell Library in Perth on 25th April for an evening with the Founder and Chairman of Dnipro Kids, a charity set up to support orphan families from Ukraine.

Steven Carr, a Hibernian FC fan, first visited Dnipro in Ukraine in 2005 when the club played a UEFA tie against Dnipropetrovsk. Moved by his visit to an orphanage in Dnipro, Steven set up the Dnipro Kids charity to assist the orphan families and has been the driving force behind the charity's mission ever since.

This was made even more pertinent by the Russian invasion in February 2022. As Russian forces swept in from the East, Steven travelled from Poland to evacuate kids and fight for their right to enter the UK.

At the event, Steven will discuss the challenges faced during the evacuation, the impact on the families involved, and the role of Dnipro Kids in supporting Ukrainian communities in Scotland.

Tickets are £10 for General Admission, £6 for RSGS Members and free for Students & U18's (not incl booking fee).

Inspiring People 2023-24
Our 2023-24 Inspiring People talks programme came to a close on 28th March with the talk by Professor Roger Crofts in Helensburgh.

Thank you to all our incredible speakers for sharing their inspiring stories, and to everyone who came to our talks this season. Just some of our highlights this year have been author and natural navigator Tristan Gooley, adventure kayaker Mark Agnew, cyclist Lee Craigie, filmmaker Mandie Stark and photographer Shahbaz Majeed at our 13 Local Groups across the country.

We look forward to seeing you again in September 2024! In the meantime, look out for extra events on throughout the year at www.rsgs.org/events.
